Fat Vitamins

Fat vitamins are important to wellness and health particularly to the reproductive health. Unluckily, most people nowadays have inadequate intake of fat vitamins such as vitamin A, D, E and K. That is why if you are taking vegan diets, no fat or low fat diets you should expect that it lacks the necessary fat soluble vitamins.

Where to Obtain Fat Vitamins

Vitamin A – Fat vitamins can be obtained from vitamin A and it can be categorized into carotenoids or retinols. The body metabolizes these substances converting it into usable vitamin A. Retinols are available from animal-source foods and it is also called as pre-formed vitamin A. On the other hand, carotenoids include beta carotene but it is poorly converted into real vitamin A.

Vitamin D – Another group of fat vitamins and is considered as precursors to hormones. That is why they are necessary for endocrine health. Likewise, this vitamin also boosts the function of immune system as well as bone health. Deficiency of vitamin D may lead to high blood pressure, periodontal disease, autoimmune disease, osteoporosis and cancer.

Vitamin E – This fat vitamin includes several nutrients referred to as tocopherols.  This vitamin is considered to be powerful antioxidant that is important for the cell health. It also protects the circulatory and cardiovascular system. It plays important role in promoting healthy skin, cancer and eye issues.

Vitamin K – This fat vitamin is naturally present in the body along with its subsets. They produce beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract. This vitamin is important for blood clotting and it also enhances bone health and prevents degenerative cognitive diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. You can obtain Vitamin K from green leafy vegetables.

It is important to have adequate amount of fat vitamins in the body so that it can be easily transported and absorbed.
